Live ATC Auto Play
L.A.A.P.
F.A.Q.
Q : Where can I find a free registration key and where should I enter it ?
A : A free public registration key can be found on the "Download" page of this site. You have to enter it manually in the
LAAP.INI file (which is in Modules\LiveATC Freq\Data folder). Reminder messages (asking for a donation) will be then
removed for the current month.
Q : Is LAAP really free ? Is my free public registration key limited in any way ?
A : LAAP is distributed under a "DonateWare" license. You can use it freely, it's not limited in anyway. If you enjoy it,
please consider making a donation.
With a free up-to-date public key, reminder messages will be disabled. Donors have a permanent personal key.
If you don't enter any key, Laap will display a short reminder message (asking for a donation) each 30mn of flight.
Q : I'm starting FsX or P3D and nothing happens.
A : Lua plugins requires unfortunatly a registered version of Fsuipc to be launch. Please check your version of Fsuipc is
up-to-date and registered. Please check FSUIPC version is compatible with your FsX or P3D version.
Q : Can I add my own audio files ? Where can I find real ATC streams for Laap ?
A : You can copy in LiveATC Freq folder any file you want as soon as they have a PLS or MP3 extension. Their name must
match with a predefined format : ARPT_TYP.EXT (for example KJFK_TWR.MP3 or KSFO_DEP.PLS). Laap associates the
frequencies in FsX or P3D just reading the file name, so this format is quite essential ...
Recorded or live streaming files can be downloaded for example at LiveATC.net.
A package of live channels already configured for Laap is also available at Fs-Pilots.com.
Q : I've got a problem, a question, can I contact the author directly ?
A : Yes, I'm the author, very pleased to meet you ! You can contact me directly with the "Contact" menu, I'll do my
best to answer. But as I'm only an enthousiast and not a professionnal developper, it's possible I won't know !
Q : I've installed LAAP but I can't hear anything. What happens ?
A : LAAP uses VLC to play audio files. You must have VLC and its path have to be correct in LAAP.INI file.
Your audio files have to be in Modules\LiveATC Freq folder. They have to be PLS or MP3 files only. Their name must
match the ARPT_TYP.EXT format : when you set your COM1 on 118.60, LAAP searches in its database for information
about this frequency and finds "Bordeaux Approche". Then it look for a LFBD_APP.MP3 or LFBD_APP.PLS file. You
also should be in range of the station to hear it. After that, if you can't hear anything, just have a look at your
speakers : are they powered and ON ;-) ?
Q : Does LAAP have a menu ? How can I check LAAP is correctly started ?
A : Laap v2.0 has no menu, it is completly transparent. Here are some ways to check if it is started :
- Confirm DisplayInfo=1 in Laap.ini. If not, Laap won't display any messages while running.
- If StartVlcAsProcess is 1 in Laap.ini, start FsX or P3D and check in Windows task manager to see if VLC is started.
If it is, the Laap is started.
- If StartVlcAsProcess is 0 in Laap.ini, you'll have to tune a frequency which matches with a file in LiveATC Freq folder.
- Check if Laap.log is 1 in Laap.ini, start your simulator and open Laap.log with a text editor.
- In FsX or P3D, you can also click on AddOns > FSUIPC > Loggin and check "Debug/Trace Lua plugins" and "Send to
console window" to see if there is any error executing Laap.
- If you think Laap doesn't start automatically, add these two lines in FSUIPC4/5/6.ini :
[LuaFiles]
1=LaapATCv2.0 (or v2.1)
[Auto]
1=lua LaapATCv2.0 (or v2.1)
Q : Can I be sure LAAP will work correctly after installation ?
A : Well, just say if you want to make it working on Fs5.1 under a Linux emulated on a Mac system, there's no guarantee !
I'm really not a professional developer, and I don't have multiple computers to test LAAP with a lot of different
systems. What I can say is that LAAP has been tested with P3Dv4/v5 under Windows 7/10 x64, it runs smoothly both
with public and private registration keys. If it does not work for you, I can try to understand why but without a debug remote console, it can be difficult. The best to do is to install and test, and send me a feedback indicating your configuration.
Q : I've a feedback to send, an advice, a review, is it usefull for you ?
A : Yes! First because I have not had the opportunity to test my code on different configurations and I'm curious if it
will run or not in other environments. I've used some libraries that were available in particular versions of LUA
(the programming language of LAAP) and not in others. I am also curious if the way I have developed and designed
the software meets your expectations ... So all returns, opinions, advice, suggestions ... are welcome !
Q : I've an advice concerning the site, is it important ?
A : For you, certainly ... I am neither interested nor competent in website creation, I did my best to make these pages
as simple and clear as I could and I reach my limits. The site is not designed to be a tea room where you like to
spend time with your friends, just a way to let anyone downloading LAAP for free.
So sorry, I like to develop for simulators, not for sites ...
Q : What is the manual for ? And what is a manual ?
A : Although not having an immediate and trivial purpose in the operation of the software itself, manual has for principal
function to make me lose my time by improving my knowledge of Word, which is really not my prefered hobby.
I personally don't like to read or write manuals, but I recognize a certain value when facing a problem I cannot solve
by myself ;-) ...
Q : I've got a great idea to improve LAAP, what can I do ?
A : The best thing to do is to submit your idea through the "Contact" page. Based on the idea, but especially in the
limit of my knowledge, I could possibly integrate it into the next version of LAAP ...
Sorry for my english, I did my best to translate this site ...
